Time Killer

Brad and I joined the 21st century yesterday...ta da...we joined Facebook. And already we realize what a time killer it can be. We are wondering, what is the love of Facebook? I mean we can see the perks of it, it is fun to see what people that you knew when you were 7 are doing now...

Basically, I would love to know why people use Facebook. I am not criticizing it or anything, I am truly just curious what your feelings about it are.

Hey, I noticed you guys joined as Brad added me as a friend. Well, this is why we all love facebook: because it's a GREAT way of keeping up the pretense that we are keeping in touch with friends we haven't even really called in forever. Because communication isn't even necessary anymore. We click on each others profile, check out the news and feel SOOO connected. Plus I can brag I have 473 friends.... Oh boy, facebook is killing the real thing, that's what it is!! Why did you guys get trapped too?? :-)))

I joined just a few days before you guys and here's my thoughts so far.

1. The first day or two I looked up all of my old friends/acquaintances and saw what they are up to and now I'm good for another 10 years or so.
2. After about a week I am already less interested, but I still check it just to see what's going on.
3. Some people are way to concerned about their own image management.

I go in phases. Sometimes I check up and see how people are doing and sometimes I ignore it. There's too much pressure to be witty and stay in touch with people I normally wouldn't. I agree with Zsuzs, it takes time away from the real things. So...why do I do it? Some days I don't know.

One thing I do like is being able to chat with people. I talk to Mike and Hannah more on Facebook than I do on the phone. Sad, but true.

I agree. I love to get on and see what people have been doing with their lives. It's like people watching on the internet.
